What is the link between Social Media and pseudoscience?

Social Media have become an important health resource during the last years.

People regularly use web search and social media as pseudoscience to investigate medical content and health-related issues. Nowadays, it is possible to find the answer to a question regarding a health concern in less than five seconds. This habit can be either positive, since it allows access to information and to support groups, or negative, as it can lead to health misinformation and misinterpretation, and even harmful self-medication.

We decided to ask directly the healthcare professionals in the M3 Global Research community and we have  surveyed 5576 members in Europe  (United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain and Germany), Canada and the United States. The question was:

"Do you think Social Media is predominantly a source of information or misinformation for patients researching medical content?"

You can find in the video below what the M3 Global Research community answered to this question.
