  1. Yes, but we called it ‘burn out’ and either changed jobs it took anti depressants.
    When dealing with some haunting deaths when in the districts I became very tearful over things that didn’t matter. I was persuaded to take two weeks off. Doing that time I commenced anti depressants and dug weeds out of my garden.
    The sister have me the easier patients but I felt I was not pulling my weight and so objected to that.
    Changes were taking place and despite being asked to stay in my role I decided to leave for another nursing job in less traumatic area, the prison service!
    Those times and patients that were lost are still in my head and have never left.
    I was able to manage but after about five that’ years I developed what we now know is auto immune diseases and severe chronic pain. I managed another 15 years in practice and school nursing. Then finally had to give in and take medical retirement.
